Other work experiences include: Director of Community Organization, Opportunity for Broome, Inc.; Allen High School (School of Girls operated under the auspices of the Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church), Asheville, NC, duties consisted of instructing courses in: Theology, Church History, Bible Literature and Comparative Religion; Hood Theological Seminary, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology, duties consisted of instruction in Homiletics, Christian Education, Evangelism and Church Administration; Bergen County Community Action Program, Social Services Director. Service Awards include: Who’s Who Among Black Clergymen in America, 199-1990 Edition For Achievement in Theological Education and Pastoral Leadership. The Reverend Armstrong was appointed Editor of The AME Zion Quarterly Review and Secretary of The AME Zion Historical Society in 1989 by the Board of Bishops to complete the term of Dr. Satterwhite upon his death. In 2000 The Quarterly Review was indexed in the ATLA Religion Database, published by he American Theological Library Association, atla@atla.com. The Reverend James David Armstrong received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC, a Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary also at Salisbury, a Master of Arts degree in Evangelism from Scarritt Graduate School, Nashville Tennessee, and further studies were pursued at Syracuse University, Virginia Union School of Religion, and Hartford Seminary. Reverend Armstrong served at pastoral charges including: Western North Carolina Conference; Western New York Conference at Binghamton, New York; Blue Ridge Conference at Asheville, North Carolina; New Jersey Conference at Hackensack, New Jersey; New England Conference at New Britain, Connecticut; South Carolina Conferences.
